“Every human being and every organization is potentially a global publisher.”

Kirk Cheyfitz, CEO, Story Worldwide

Given his statement, how can social media be used to “take charge of Detroit’s story?”

    Metro Detroiters widely share constructive conversations every day about:
    * Neighborhood revivals
    * Visionary business start-ups
    * Creative artists
    * Successful entrepreneurs
    * Visit-worthy attractions
    * Support-worthy merchants
    * What’s good about our region
    * What could improve
    * How we make a difference individually and collectively.

    These bright spots take place in MSM (Michael Happy’s ‘Going Home’ blog at The Detroit News), at influential discussion forums such as symposium participant Lowell Boilleau’s pioneering DetroitYes!, at Time’s Assignment Detroit, at creative blogs such as Detroit Moxie by Becks DavisM/b> and others by grass-roots “global publishers” who help tell Detroit story one post at a time.

    It’s heartening to see that Kirk Chefitz and today’s discussion recognize the value of these contribution and are brainstorming ways to generate greater attention and mpact from these story-telling incubators.

    I thought the lack of folks in the trenches from the city left me frustrated that yet another meeting wa taking place and the opinions of thise that mattered were not present…I tried to point that out but I was out numbered..When you are a Black activist in a room of conformists it can be a bitch..
